冷縮電纜終端的電應(yīng)力控制采用特殊材料制作而成，該材料的介電常數(shù)、介電強度、絕緣電阻和介質(zhì)損耗因數(shù)保持長期穩(wěn)定，通過此種應(yīng)力控制方法，可將終端表面的高電場強度降至15V/mil的安全范圍內(nèi)，高電位移向電纜末端，而不是集中在電纜屏蔽切斷處附近，從而使電纜終端外絕緣電場分布趨于發(fā)散、均勻。因而提高外絕緣的放電電壓，并且使整個電纜終端直徑減小，xing狀系數(shù)增大，其效果也是提高了放電電壓。
冷縮電纜終端外絕緣材料為高品質(zhì)硅橡膠材料，它具有良好的疏水性能，水滴在上面隨時滾落，不xing成導(dǎo)電的水膜，且具有疏水性自愈性能。此外，它極強的絕緣性、抗電痕、耐腐蝕性及抗紫外線性, 保證長期使用性能穩(wěn)定。
冷縮電纜終端頭，獨特的材料配方和制造工藝，使之緊密貼附電纜主絕緣, 對電纜本體提供恒定持久的徑向壓力, 局部放電量小，起始電壓高，絕緣沖擊水平高于現(xiàn)有標(biāo)準(zhǔn)的水平，防水密封性好, 與電纜本體同"呼吸"。
