材料作為社會經(jīng)濟發(fā)展的物質基礎和先導，對推動人類文明的進程起著及其重要的作用。隨著經(jīng)濟和社會的發(fā)展，對材料及產(chǎn)品的需求也越來越大。隨之而來的在資源利用和開發(fā)的技術水平、深度和廣度，以及資源效益、經(jīng)濟效益、環(huán)境效益上的問題也日益突出。正是在這種背景下，近幾年上提出并發(fā)展了生態(tài)環(huán)境材料（Eco-Materiel）這一概念，并成為材料科學發(fā)展的引領方向和熱點前沿。相對于傳統(tǒng)材料，生態(tài)環(huán)境材料的顯著特質集中于零有害物質、綠色環(huán)保、高材料循環(huán)性以及高材料效能等四方面。它的發(fā)展有助于解決資源短缺、環(huán)境惡化等一系列問題，促進社會經(jīng)濟的可持續(xù)性發(fā)展。
生態(tài)環(huán)境材料的研發(fā)、推廣、應用和進出口貿易都涉及到材料的生態(tài)環(huán)境安全性能的檢測和評價。上通用的檢測內容有材料特性鑒別、生物降解、崩解、生態(tài)效應和堆肥質量等五方面。如：
